Join Dorothy’s House for an unforgettable day of fun and philanthropy at our Pickle for a Purpose Pickleball Tournament! As we come together on the courts, we’re not just playing a game; we’re making a difference. Together, we’ll rally for change and create lasting impact in our community.

Whether you’re a seasoned pro or new to the game, there’s a place for you on our courts. Join us as a player, cheer on the sidelines as a spectator or support our cause as a sponsor or volunteer. Together, we can serve up hope and opportunity for those who need it most.

Tournament Highlights

  • Doubles Brackets: Men’s, Women’s, and Mixed
  • Recreation and Competitive (3.25+) Divisions
  • Minimum 4 games
  • Prizes for tournament champions

  • $75 per team
  • $40 for second bracket
  • Includes t-shirt
  • Minimum 4 games

Why Participate?

Founded in 2016 by Kellie Markey, Dorothy’s House is a registered 501(c)3  in Des Moines. Dorothy’s House is dedicated to supporting survivors of human trafficking and creating systemic change in the community.

Tournament FAQs

The tournament format is doubles pool play into single elimination.

The different skill levels for the tournament are:

Recreation Bracket: for fun!
Competitive Bracket: 3.25+
Pool play into single elimination format. The winning team for each bracket will take home a prize.
Games played to 11; win by 1

You must bring your own equipment. Balls will be provided.

Our backup date is September 20, if weather does not allow our tournament.

Of course! We have a winner-take-all prize. There will be different prizes for each bracket.

You will need to register with a partner. Tickets can only be purchased for a team of two.

Event FAQs

Pickleball is a paddle sport that combines elements of tennis, badminton and ping-pong using a paddle and plastic ball with holes. It is a game that is appropriate for players of all ages and skill levels. Rules for pickleball are simple, making it a great introductory sport. It can also be quite the challenging, fast-paced, and competitive game when people become more experienced at playing.

Yes! We would love to have you join us. Spectator entry is free. In addition to the tournament, we will have vendor booths & more to enjoy! We appreciate any donation from spectators.

There will be a food truck available at the event.

Outside food and alcoholic drinks will not be permitted at the event.

Yes, there is free on-site parking available.
