Communication is crucial to effectively strengthen controllable circumstances within a fluctuating environment. It takes support, a safe space, resources and empathy to recover a life interrupted by human trafficking, exploitation and prostitution.

Summary of Overall Role and Responsibilities

The Clinical Director is responsible for providing leadership to staff and contributing to development and oversight of the Care Plans for participants in our Crisis, Residential and Front Porch programs.

Qualifications:

  • Masters Degree in Social Work or Counseling field form an approved educational program.
  • Licensed as a LISW or LMHC certification by the State of Iowa.
  • 3+ years of supervised clinical experience in a mental health or human services organization.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with at multi disciplinary team – CCTP certification preferred.

A successful candidate will:

  • Be able to show compassion in a variety of situations.
  • Maintain specific personal boundaries and hold participants accountable for their actions.
  • Listen actively and reflect what you hear back to the participants.
  • Identify individual strengths and utilize those strengths to promote hope, motivation, and action.
  • Have sufficient life experience/skills to be a guide to participants in the home.
  • Be able to diffuse tense situations and difficult moments, while keeping your own emotional reactions in check.
  • Possess strong written and verbal communications skills to build relationships with participants and effectively keep staff up to date on evening/weekend happenings.
  • Work with the participant rather than for them or on their behalf, while holding them accountable to goals and expectations.
  • Previous experience in an environment with trauma survivors, addiction treatment, and/or mental health counseling and support is helpful but not required.
  • Must be over 21, possess a valid driver’s license and insurance, have the ability to maintain those items successfully throughout employment, and be willing to drive agency vehicles to transport participants as needed.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Manage the logistics of a household with supporting staff and volunteers. Duties may include but are not limited to:
  • Facilitate weekly individual programming and group programming with all residential participants.
  • Facilitate individual programming with Front Porch participants and develop group engagement opportunities.
  • Identify and administer alternative curricula or other resources based on the specific needs of participants, especially in individual programming.
  • Support Care Coaches and other staff to integrate and reinforce programming concepts throughout their casual and formal interactions with participants.
  • Make recommendations for supporting participants through challenging times.
  • Oversee and make recommendations for participant engagement in external mental health services in partnership with the Director of Services.
  • Document relevant participant interactions, observations, and progress as appropriate.
  • Distribution of participant medications.
  • Conduct intake assessments; responsible for initial assessments, as well as follow up assessments for participants.
  • Facilitate group and one-on-one counseling sessions using our evidence-based curriculum.
  • Provide crisis support and coordinate appropriate referrals when needed.
  • Prepare individual treatment plans for each assigned patient.
  • Evaluate patient needs and determine if referrals to other programs or facilities are needed.
  • Maintain timely, accurate documentation in our electronic medical record (EMR) system.
  • Collaborate with clinical supervisors on individualized treatment and discharge planning.
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA and all relevant state regulations.
  • Maintain structure and discipline as required and appropriate, including corresponding rule infraction documentation.
  • Attend scheduled staff meetings.

Salary:

$63,000/year

Work Schedule:

Monday-Friday: 8am-4pm, 40 hours per week
